Louisiana Cell Phone Laws

Louisiana does not have the stringent cellphone laws that other states have incorporated since the dawn of the smartphone, such as the laws that completely prohibit any use of cellphones. Though they have effectively banned texting and driving for motorists of any age, talking on your hands-free and handheld cellphone is still allowed by the state. The only exceptions to this rule are those drivers who only have their learner's permit or intermediate license. These particular groups do not have the freedom to talk on their phones as their counterparts may. They must abide by the ban or risk being fined for not doing so.
